Judging

How does it work?

The judging process consists of three stages:

  1. Initial category nominations are made by local readers using the coupon in their local Messenger or by nominating online at this website.
  2. The three businesses in each category which attract the highest number of votes are determined as finalists. Finalists are "mystery shopped" by an independent group of judges, coordinated by the Business Performance Group. Businesses are assessed on customer service, product quality and presentation.
  3. The winners are announced at the gala presentation night at the Hilton International.

If a business attracts an unusually high number of votes, and it is able to be determined with reasonable certainty that a large number of votes for that business is originating from the same source, that business will be considered for disqualification.

The rule is – one nomination per person, per category.

Who are the judges?

The judging process is coordinated and conducted by the Business Performance Group. Chairman of Judges, David Floyd, is the Director of the Business Performance Group.
