The new initiatives introduced into the judging process for the Local Business Awards program this year ensures the highest standards, justifying its reputation as a leading business awards program.

This brings Messenger readers and local residents into the decision making process.
Each of our 11 newspapers features a Local Business Awards call for nominations advertisement, over the four week voting period, where everyone is invited to nominate their favourite local businesses.
For the first time Votes can only be submitted through this website.
There are 14 categories, with the top six nominated businesses in each category going onto stage two.
The top six semi-finalists in each category will be independently evaluated.
A Mystery Shopper from Shop Angels will assess each business on customer service, product knowledge, product quality and presentation.
The results from these six mystery shops, four Finalists will be identified to proceed to Stage 3.
The resulting information can then be used to build improvement programs and develop more enjoyable buying experiences and is available to the finalist businesses following the Awards presentations.
The four finalists in each category will be assessed for workplace safety management.

The results from these four SafeWork SA visits will be added to the Mystery Shop results to determine the winner in each category.
