The Judging Procedure

Our aim is to provide local businesses with the most credible and professionally administered service for improved performance and profitability.

The diligent judging process for the Local Business Awards program ensures the highest standards, justifying its reputation as a leading business awards program.

The judging procedure includes:

Stage 1: Reader Nominations

This brings Messenger readers and local residents into the decision making process.

Each of our 11 newspapers features a Local business Awards nomination coupon where everyone is invited to nominate their favourite local businesses. Votes can also be submitted through this website.

There are 20 categories, with the top three nominated businesses in each category going onto stage two.

Stage 2: Independent Mystery Shopping - Business Performance Group

The top three finalists in each category will be independently audited.

A Mystery Shopper from the Business Performance Group will assess each business on customer service, product quality and presentation.

This section creates a benchmark, identifying strengths and opportunities for growth. Feedback is available to the finalist businesses following the awards presentations.

Stage 3: Awards Presentation Event

Winners for each category across each region will be announced at the annual 2008 Local Business Awards nights. Click here to see the dates for the program.
